Meet Florian Lis-Srajer: ASQS' New Head of Operations Thailand
Interview / September 4, 2024
This September, Florian Lis-Srajer is making a significant career move from Vienna to Bangkok to assume the role of Head of Operations Thailand at ASQS Limited. Known for his meticulous approach and a proven track record in steering iQSMS implementations to success, Florian brings a lot of experience to his new position. His engaging personality has made him an invaluable asset to our team in Vienna. While we eagerly anticipate the positive impact he will undoubtedly make in Bangkok, we will surely miss him here in Austria.
To learn more about Florian’s next adventure, we sat down with him for a few questions.
- Hi Florian, thank you for joining us right before your move from Vienna to Bangkok!
Tell us, what excites you most about moving to Thailand?
I am very much looking forward to the privilege of being allowed to work in such a great country. I am excited about exploring the bustling streets of Bangkok, with its markets (day and night), parks and food stalls. In addition, I have heard so many things about the positive and friendly culture, which I find extremely inspiring.
- What do you admire most about Thai culture, and how do you think it will enrich your personal and/or professional life?
I very much admire the concept of “sanuk” and I have heard that it is central to the Thai way of life. I think this can definitely enrich my personal and professional life.
- What aspects of your life in Vienna will you miss the most?
I wouldn’t say miss per se because there are so many things to explore in Bangkok and Thailand, so I would rather rephrase this to aspects of Vienna that I will be thinking of positively. There are lots of aspects I really appreciate in Vienna, but experiencing the four seasons is something I will definitely be thinking about. Spending time in spring at the Prater, summer at the Donauinsel, autumn at the Heuriger or winter in the Austrian Alps.
Florian Lis-Srajer,
New Head of Operations Thailand, ASQS Limited
ASQS’ Limited office in Bangkok, Thailand
- What specific challenges and opportunities do you see in leading the ASQS Bangkok office?
We have a great team at our Bangkok office, and I am honored to take over the position as the team captain. I am sure that we can learn a lot from each other and boost the collaboration of our three global offices in a very positive way.
- iQSMS is popular in the region. In Thailand, multiple operators have implemented at least one of our modules. What do you believe sets iQSMS apart from other SMS/QMS and Risk Management solutions?
“iQSMS is a web-based Safety, Quality and Risk Management System developed by a team of aviation safety and quality experts and experienced IT professionals.” That’s not only a slogan or marketing strategy, that’s what ASQS is about. By having experts from both sides on board, we can keep the focus 100% on the relevant requirements and drive continuous improvement. Not only through the input from our own team, but also from our clients, specialists from the industry. We provide aviation professionals with intuitive software to help them with their daily business.
- What impact do you think the Bangkok office has on ASQS’s global strategy?I strongly believe that the Bangkok office plays a very important role in our global strategy. It strengthens our position in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. Also, it allows us to connect with customers in this region easily due to the great location time zone wise. The time difference for New-Deli is just 1.5 hours, for Tokyo 2 hours and Sydney 3 hours. It is a great place to stay connected within the APAC region.
- Is there anything uniquely Austrian that you plan to bring with you to Thailand?
I will bring my “Lederhosen”, a piece of traditional Austrian clothing, just in case.
Thank you for your time, Florian. Wishing you all the best in Bangkok! We can’t wait to hear about your adventures when we catch up with you in a few months.
