Partner Spotlight: Lufthansa Industry Solutions
ASQS / July 2, 2025
Safety teams know the challenge well: managing the growing volume of safety reports while ensuring consistent classification and timely analysis. Manual processing can create bottlenecks that delay critical safety insights, while inconsistent classification standards can obscure important patterns across an organization.
Where Aviation Heritage Meets Digital Innovation
Nevena: Lufthansa Industry Solutions emerged from the Lufthansa Group to become a comprehensive IT service provider. How has this aviation heritage influenced your approach to developing technology solutions for safety-critical industries?
Amir: Our aviation heritage has shaped a culture of high-quality, reliability, and innovation at Lufthansa Industry Solutions. As part of the Lufthansa Group, where safety will always come first, we have learned to prioritize meticulous attention to detail and strict standards. Working closely with various industries, we leverage this expertise to deliver customized solutions that put safety and efficiency first. This unique background helps us drive technological advances and maintain the high level of trust and reliability that our partners and clients expect from us.

Theresa: Absolutely, aviation poses some unique challenges. But the best practices we have established as a result also benefit our clients in other industries, such as retail, transport logistics and finance. Let me give you two examples.
First, in aviation, safety and reliable operations are not competitive advantages – they are essential preconditions. Structured risk management, global monitoring and predictive maintenance help us anticipate problems before they arise.
Second, the need for real-time data integration is huge. Systems such as flight operations, maintenance, and passenger services all need to sync perfectly and share data seamlessly. We achieve this through built-in redundancies and state-of-the-art technologies. Our highly qualified employees keep up to date through continuous training and certification. Our philosophy at Lufthansa Industry Solutions: We take care of the IT, so our customers can focus on their business.
Revolutionizing Safety Report Processing with AI
Amir: Users of iQSMS can benefit from our collaboration by saving time and resources while ensuring higher data quality and compliance. In 2023, an airline client approached us with the following challenge: It is essential for aircraft crews to accurately record and log service anomalies and safety-relevant events during the flight (service & safety reports). Reporting during the demanding daily flight routine requires significant attention and time. In close cooperation with their Corporate Safety Management, we conducted a proof of concept (PoC) to evaluate the use of AI for event classification and risk assessment. The aim was to enhance data quality, support compliance with airworthiness regulations, and make processes more efficient. The PoC was successful and the next step was integration.
In discussions with ASQS, it quickly became clear that this is a solution that can also bring significant added value to other iQSMS users as well. It is a strategic approach that we generally pursue at Lufthansa Industry Solutions: When we identify solutions with the potential to add value for multiple clients, we develop them as reusable services for quick and flexible deployment in various scenarios. This approach offers three key benefits to our customers: lower setup costs, faster readiness, and the option to obtain the solution as SaaS (Software as a Services) with reliable long-term availability through SLAs (Service Level Agreements).

Technical Integration
Theresa: The AI Co-Validator integrates seamlessly into iQSMS, because it is based on a reliable and uniform structure that serves all customers. What’s truly fascinating is how data plays a central role here. When a customer decides to activate the Ai Co-Validator, the AI is trained using that customer’s historical data. Think of it as getting a new team member who goes through training to understand company-specific processes. The AI learns to spot patterns and contextual cues from past reports to evaluate new ones accurately. Once everything is up and running, the AI Co-Validator examines the content of incoming reports and suggests the best matching customer-specific event classification. iQSMS administrators can flexibly set confidence thresholds to achieve a balance between accuracy and automation. If the classification suggested by the AI matches the reporter’s selection or exceeds the present confidence threshold, the report gets automatically approved. In the long term, our vision is for the Ai Co-Validator to offer classification suggestions with a confidence score right when a report is submitted. By leveraging historical reports, the Ai Co-Validator not only assists in event classification but also in risk assessment, making well-founded suggestions based on the data it has been fed. Since this second use case is much more critical, AI only provides suggestions, while the decision is always made by a human being.
”Early adopters of the AI Co-Validator report up to 65% resource savings in their initial report analysis process.”
Amir Farajollahzadeh / Lufthansa Industry Solutions
Amir: Since the release of the Ai Co-Validator, joint customers have experienced significant improvements in report processing efficiency, including reduced time-consuming repetitive tasks and freeing up resources for more critical tasks. The Ai Co-Validator not only speeds up the process, but also aims to minimize human intervention without compromising reliability. Early adopters of the Ai Co-Validator report up to 65% resource savings in their initial report analysis process. This way, the Ai Co-Validator improve safety management through efficient and objective reporting. This has increased the overall safety and effectiveness levels of aviation organizations.
Security and Compliance
Amir: We go through stringent external audits, which helps us keep our security protocols sharp. Certifications like ISO27001 ensure we’re following the best practices in information security management. Plus, everything we do is GDPR compliant, safeguarding personal data to the highest standards. Also, it’s worth mentioning our adherence to the EU AI Act, highlighting our commitment to ethical and secure AI practices. In a nutshell, we combine industry standards, strict regulations, and regular audits to make sure our solutions are secure. This way, our clients can have peace of mind knowing their data is in safe hands.

The Future of AI in Aviation Safety
Nevena: How do you envision the role of AI technology in aviation safety management evolving over the next 5 years, and what other potential applications do you see for this technology?
Theresa: I’m convinced that AI technology will play a transformative role in aviation safety management over the next five years. We’re already seeing how AI can process vast amounts of data quickly and accurately, identifying patterns and potential risks much faster than traditional methods. AI is increasingly becoming the standard in the aviation industry. It’s not just a nice extra, but a must-have. Those who don’t leverage AI will put themselves at a competitive disadvantage. This technology is coming – and embracing it will be crucial to staying ahead in the industry. In the future, I envision AI being integrated into every aspect of safety management. For example, predictive analytics can identify maintenance issues before they become critical, thereby preventing accidents. Machine learning algorithms can analyze flight data to help develop individual training programs for pilots tailored to their specific needs, thus increasing overall safety. Beyond safety, AI also has great potential in other areas of aviation. It can optimize fuel consumption, improve air traffic management, and even enhance the passenger experience through personalized services. At Lufthansa Industry Solutions, we are continuously exploring these possibilities and finding innovative ways to use AI to make aviation not only safer, but also more efficient and enjoyable.
