Partner Spotlight: Yonder

ASQS    /    February , 2025

When a group of aviation professionals grew tired of wrestling with digital documents that behaved like paper ones, they decided to build something better. Meet Yonder, our featured partner this month, whose fresh approach to documentation management is changing how the industry handles its most critical information.
The Birth of Smart Documentation
In the aviation industry, documentation isn’t just paperwork – it’s the backbone of safety, compliance, and operational excellence. While the industry has embraced digital transformation, many solutions simply digitized old paper processes, missing the opportunity for true innovation. That’s where Yonder comes in.

In 2015, a team of Swiss aviation professionals saw an opportunity to fundamentally reimagine how the industry manages its critical documentation. Their solution? A groundbreaking platform that doesn’t just store documents – it makes them intelligent.

In this month’s Partner Spotlight, we look at Yonder‘s journey from concept to industry leader, exploring how their partnership with ASQS is setting new standards for aviation documentation and safety management. Through our conversation with Marc Rauch, Founder and Chief Business Officer at Yonder, we uncover how this collaboration is transforming the way aviation professionals interact with essential documentation, making it more accessible, intelligent, and efficient than ever before.

Nevena: Marc, could you walk us through the journey that led to Yonder’s creation? What challenges in aviation document management inspired your solution?

Marc: All founders of Yonder were working in the aviation industry already before starting the company: I was Head of Airport Authority at Zurich Airport and my co-founders were working as EFB Admin and in eOperations at Swiss International Airlines. All of us were facing familiar challenges in our work with documentation that were rooted in paper-less documentation being regarded as digital. What I mean by that is that digitalization happening at the time was focused on making the existing documents digital but not improving the usability. It was basically paper without the weight of paper but with all its limitations: linear content flow, duplicates, outdated information, etc. And it all involved a lot of manual and repetitive work to keep the documents up to date. We figured there is a smarter way of managing documents while improving user friendliness at the same time. And this is exactly what we did with Yonder.

Nevena: What makes Yonder’s approach to“smartening up documents” unique in today’s aviation landscape?

Marc: Yonder is the most innovative documentation management solution currently on the market. For document managers, we believe as many tasks as possible should be automated freeing time to focus on subject matter expertise. This is why compliance linking has been incorporated early on and on the level of a single information module. Our approach guarantees that change requests triggered by a change in a regulation will be shown in the correct place in the document. The compliance linking functionality has been further enhanced with the two-way interface to iQSMS allowing our customers to link documents to regulations in Yonder and incorporate this information when planning an audit in iQSMS. Yonder also features powerful importers for both Word and OEM documents. Importing existing documents is a breeze and document revisions from Airbus, Boeing, Embraer, and ATR are largely automated in Yonder.

For end-users, information should be easily accessible, and updates clear and concise. In Yonder end-users only see the information that is relevant for them and can employ filters and search to further narrow down what information they need. They can personalize documents with their own highlights and notes which are automatically taken over between revisions. And when a new document revision is published, end-users are only prompted with change notifications for the changes that are relevant to their user group. All this while viewing the documents in a user-friendly app that was even recognized by Apple.

Nevena Akmadžić, Strategy & Partner Manager at ASQS
Nevena: That level of streamlined access makes a huge difference in day-to-day aviation operations. When crews and staff only see what’s relevant to them, it cuts down on noise and ensures they’re always working with the most up-to-date information. How do you see the integration between Yonder and iQSMS enhancing day-to-day aviation operations even further?

Marc: Quality and safety management and documentation go hand in hand. Accurate, up-to-date, and accessible documentation is fundamental to ensuring operational safety and regulatory compliance. Aviation is a highly regulated industry where detailed records, such as flight operation manuals and safety procedures, serve as a cornerstone for risk mitigation and continuous improvement. Effective documentation management ensures that critical information is consistently available to end-users, reducing errors caused by outdated or missing information. At the same time, safety and quality management systems rely on this documentation to track performance metrics, identify hazards, implement corrective actions, and verify compliance with international standards. Together, these practices create a robust framework that promotes accountability, supports informed decision-making, and enhances the overall safety culture within the industry. In other words, we bring together what belongs together.

Nevena:We bring together what belongs together” – what a great way to put it. Since implementing the integration, what improvements have you observed among shared customers?

Marc: We see high interest among existing as well as new customers to deploy both solutions. Especially the functionality to see links to Yonder directly in the iQSMS Audit Module brings added value. One customer has shared with us that their audit findings related to documentation were reduced from 3-4 findings per year to 0. Another customer reported an increase in safety by eliminating inconsistencies in documentation.

The partnership between Yonder and ASQS shows how real value is created for our customers by leveraging the strengths of both organizations.

Nevena: That’s incredible – going from multiple findings to none is a huge testament to the impact of this integration. The aviation industry is rapidly evolving, particularly in terms of digital transformation. What emerging challenges do you see operators facing in document management and compliance?

Marc: I believe AI will be the dominating topic in the next few years. On one hand, AI can be a helping hand when managing documentation and support subject matter experts in doing their job more efficiently. On the other hand, AI is also a marketing buzzword, and some vendors will implement AI where it doesn’t make sense just to be able to claim their product uses AI.

Nevena: I totally agree. AI has immense potential, but only when applied in ways that truly add value. As the industry navigates this balance between innovation and practicality, with the increasing focus on automation and intelligence in aviation software, how is Yonder incorporating advanced technologies to enhance document management capabilities?

Marc: We are currently working on implementing Artificial Intelligence in Yonder. True to our roots we aim to facilitate document managers’ daily work by automating repetitive tasks, and linking our customers’ documentation to the imported regulations and standards is an excellent application of AI capabilities. Of course, that’s only when our customers allow their documentation to be passed on to the cloud AI models used by Yonder. Similarly, real-time translation of documents into multiple languages will be done much faster with AI support and help to prevent content in different languages from diverting.

Nevena: Looking ahead, what potential do you see for expanding the partnership between Yonder and ASQS? Are there specific areas where we could create additional value for our users?

Marc: The partnership between Yonder and ASQS shows how real value is created for our customers by leveraging the strengths of both organizations. Bringing together our innovative systems offers an integrated solution for both smart documentation management and safety & quality management.

Nevena: Absolutely. What excites you most about the future of digital documentation and compliance management?

Marc: What excites me most about the future of digital documentation and compliance management is the transformative potential it holds. Compliance and documentation are no longer viewed as cumbersome obligations but as seamless, value-adding processes. But the future of digital documentation is not just about better tools, it’s about enabling smarter, safer, and more agile organizations that can adapt faster and better to an ever-changing world.
