We’re very excited to welcome Widerøe – one of the oldest airlines in Europe – as our newest customer on board.
Trading as Widerøe, Widerøe’s Flyveselskap AS is Scandinavia’s largest regional airline headquartered in Bodø, Norway. Founded in 1934, Widerøe not only is the largest carrier operating most daily flights in the Nordic countries, but also one of the oldest, which today, has over 450 daily departures to 43 domestic and 3 international destinations.
Operating a fleet of 40 Dash-8 turbo-prop aircraft, Widerøe carries 2.8 million passengers annually being one the major regional transport providers in Norway. The airline mainly serves secondary airports and additionally offers flights also to Copenhagen, Gothenburg and Aberdeen.
With a long history behind, and drawing on 83 years of experience, Widerøe sets the highest priority in Safety and Quality throughout the entire company, which apart from the airline, further consists of 3 subsidiaries: Widerøe Ground Handling AS, the maintenance company Widerøe Technical Services AS and Widerøe Training Center. A well-functioning Quality-, Reporting- and Risk Management system is critical to Wideroøe as the airline is heading into a new ear; introducing jets to the fleet. Spring of 2018 Wideroøe will be the worldwide launch customers for Embraer's new generation E-Jets.
The implementation of our IQSMS Quality-, Reporting- and Risk Management Module as well as opting for the FDM Module, allows the company a proactive approach to safety relevant events of any kind, which again fosters the early recognition as well as the rapid assessment and mitigation of threads and hazards.
An extension to include the Airport and Flight Risk Module, the Survey and the Ground Operations Module is agreed in order to further meet the demands of the entire Widerøe group.
Looking forward to a good cooperation, ASQS is happy to support Widerøe with our expertise!
