On today’s International Civil Aviation Day, we are proud the join ICAO in highlighting the importance of international civil aviation for human affairs. First observed by the international Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to mark the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Chicago Convention on International Civil Aviation in 1944, where the International Civil Aviation Day has been celebrated worldwide every year since 1996.

ICAO is one of the United Nation's largest technical agencies charged with promoting the planning and development of international aviation to ensure the sustainable growth of the global civil aviation system and standardize international civil aviation. As such, ICAO highlights the importance of international civil aviation as a social and economic actor, promoting sustainable development and connecting people and nations. The United Nations and ICAO jointly develop laws and standards aligning aviation regulations of 193 countries, enabling a global system of international cooperation, to ensure  that we can travel safely and securely worldwide.

Agenda 2030 - Advancing Innovation for Global Aviation Development

Every five years, the Council selects a special theme for the celebrations of the International Civil Aviation Day. As humanity faces the consequences of global climate change, the United Nations and the countries of the world nations have adopted the Agenda 2030 to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people can live in peace and prosperity by 2030. In this context, as aviation is a driver for global connectivity, the current four-year theme until 2023 is "Advancing Innovation for Global Aviation Development".

Looking at the developments in the aviation industry over the last hundred years, it is clear that it is one of the leading sectors in terms of innovation. In just slightly more than a century, the aviation sector redefined mobility, having gone from learning to fly to air travel being the safest and most reliable form of transportation in the world.

And this is mainly owed to technological progress and the innovations that go hand in hand with it. Being the safest form of transportation in the world means always staying at the forefront of technology, be it in terms of materials, processes or systems. For this reason, the industry is constantly striving to optimize itself, driven by modernization and digitalization on all levels.
We are proud to play a part in the contemporary history of the aviation industry and to actively support and promote the modernization of the branch in the field of safety and compliance management through our expertise and our integrated software solution IQSMS.
