Accomodation

The InterContinental Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Airport couldn’t be more conveniently located. Situated just a minute’s walk from the international arrivals area at Africa’s busiest airport, the award-winning hotel provides you with a good transport network. It is located in Kempton Park, home to numerous shopping malls, Emperor’s Palace with its theatres and restaurants, and accommodation to suit all needs and budgets, it’s a great place for both, business and leisure travelers. The near Gautrain station directly links the airport with Sandton CBD, the city’s Central Business District, which is surrounded by not-to-be-missed tourist attractions and accommodation facilities.

In case you would like to stay at the conference venue, please note that accommodation is not included in your conference ticket! Participants are required to book their own accommodation and take care of the payment directly with the hotel.

Arrival at the Hotel

The hotel is located 68.7 metres safe walking distance in front of the International Arrivals Hall on the lower level of the airport. The hotel can arrange a Meet and Greet service upon request and at no additional charge.

Traveling to / in Johannesburg

Air Transportation

If you travel to/from Johannesburg you are likely to arrive at or depart from the OR Tambo International Airport. It is South Africa’s largest and busiest airport, hub of the country’s largest carrier South African Airways amd the primary airport for domestic and international travel. It is located around 20 kilometres east of Johannesburg and about 53 kilometres away from South Africa’s executive capital Pretoria.
Airport transfer: If you’re staying at a hotel, check if there is a hotel shuttle, take a taxi or rent a car right at the airport.

Public Transport

Johannesburg offers various public transit and taxi options. For longer distances or a quicker ride to and from Jo’burg’s OR Tambo International Airport (JNB), Gautrain is an option.

Gautrain (Afrikaans Gautrein) is a regional railroad system in the Gauteng province of South Africa with a total length of about 80 kilometres.

Gautrain links OR Tambo International Airport, central Johannesburg (Park Station), the main business districts Sandton and Rosebank, and Pretoria. It is a safe and reliable way of travelling. Trains run daily from 05:30–20:30 at intervals of 12–30 minutes.

Johannesburg Zoological Gardens

South Africa’s largest zoo with more than 9,000 animals from around 700 different species including a diverse range of large mammals enclosed in areas surrounded by moats rather than locked behind bars. The huge zoo complex also features a Reptile Park and an Aquarium. Learn more

Shopping in Johannesburg

Johannesburg is one of the major retail centers in southern Africa and attracts shoppers by offering a great variety of consumer goods in its various shops and malls. Among its more popular malls are the Carlton Centre,  and the upscale Hyde Park Mall. Further afield are the Rosebank shopping complex (a series of interconnected malls) and the huge Sandton City Shopping Centre. Among the better-known crafts shops are: Art Africa; Diagonal Street; Jacana; Mai Mai Bazaar and Zebra Crossing. A large range of traditional crafts can also be found at the Rosebank Rooftop Market.
